How to Reset Skullcandy Headphones

Skullcandy headphones have a great range of colors, models, and features to help you express your individuality. Their range of products is great for jamming on a budget and doing it in style. However, like all Bluetooth products, they may occasionally have trouble pairing.

I’ve owned a few pairs of Skullcandy headphones, and I’ve only had to reset one of them. However, the process became less frustrating quickly. Turns out that Skullcandy headphones are extremely easy to reset.

The following methods will help you reset some of the most popular models of Skullcandy headphones.

General Reset Method for Skullcandy Headphones

No matter what model of Skullcandy headphones you have, some general reset methods are standard across models.

The first step to resetting any of your Skullcandy headphones is to remove them from your paired devices list. On your phone, this is in your Bluetooth pairing menu. On your laptop or computer, the list of Paired Devices is in your Bluetooth settings menu.

Some headphones require you to turn off your Bluetooth entirely, which can be beneficial. Headphones will still be attempting to pair if the Bluetooth is left on, so this is a good practice.

Usually, you can reset your headphones by holding down the power button, the center button, or the volume buttons for a set length of time. This power-cycles the headphones and allows them to start fresh.

After your headphones power on again, you can pair them with your device to fix a host of issues. However, each model has different buttons to press and different lengths of time for a successful reset. That’s what we’ll be going over below.

Why Reset Your Headphones?

If you’ve never had to reset your headphones before, you might be asking why it’s necessary. How does it help? Turns out that resetting your headphones can repair a lot of issues you might be having, including:

  • Audio delay
  • Static-y sound
  • Connectivity issues
  • Pairing issues
  • Frequent disconnects
  • No sound

Some of these issues may be happening because of a software or update issue. Sometimes, your device and the headphones are not compatible.

However, resetting your headphones is one of the first, simple things you can try to get your Bluetooth headphones working properly.

How to Reset Skullcandy Crusher Wireless Headphones

If your Skullcandy Crusher wireless headphones are having trouble pairing with your device, resetting them may help.

To reset your Crushers, you’ll need to remove the headphones from your list of paired devices. On your phone, this should be in your Bluetooth menu. Your laptop or computer should have a similar list in the Bluetooth settings menu.

Then, hold your headphones so you can easily access multiple buttons on the right earcup. Hold the upper and lower buttons on the earcup until the LEDs on both buttons turn yellow. This should take about 10 seconds.

After the LEDs have been yellow for about three seconds, you are free to re-pair your headphones with your device.

How to Reset Skullcandy Method Wireless Headphones

Method wireless headphones are a little different when it comes to resetting. First, you should remove your Method headphones from your Paired Devices list. It’s also important to turn Bluetooth off on your device.

Then, power on your earbuds. Once you have power, hold down the plus (+) and minus (-) buttons on the in-line remote. The LED on the in-line remote will blink blue up to three times, indicating that your headphones have cleared all pairing settings.

Turn them on again via the power button. Now you’re ready to pair them to your device again.

How to Reset Skullcandy Indy

Skullcandy’s Indy headphones are extremely easy to reset, despite being so small. As with most other resets, you’ll first need to remove your Skullcandy Indy headphones from your paired devices list on your phone or computer.

Next, hold the sensor on each of the earbuds for about six seconds. This turns the earbuds off completely, which helps create the perfect conditions for a reset.

To power, the earbuds on again, touch and hold the sensor for 15 seconds. The LED will turn solid blue. While the LED is blue, tap the sensors you’ve been holding twice. The LED will then flash purple.

The reset is complete! Now, you simply have to repair the earbuds like you did the first time.

How to Reset Skullcandy Indy Evo

Resetting your Indy Evo earbuds is just like resetting your standard Indy earbuds. As always, make sure to remove your earbuds from the paired devices list in your Bluetooth menus before starting.

First, hold both buds for six seconds to power them off. Then, hold each bud for 10 seconds to completely reset them. This is essentially a manual power cycle to reset connectivity.

After you’ve power cycled the earbuds, put them back into the case. The LEDs will turn red, and this indicates that you need to sync the buds to each other.

To do this, pull the earbuds back out of the case. The LEDs will start to flash blue. Eventually, this will switch to the left bud flashing red and blue. This means that the headphones are reset, synced to each other, and ready to pair to your device again.

How to Reset Skullcandy Sesh

Skullcandy Sesh headphones are extremely compact. When considering how to reset Skullcandy wireless earbuds, Sesh isn’t that different from other models they offer.

First, make sure that you remove the earbuds from your paired devices list and turn your Bluetooth off. Turning off the Bluetooth is essential for these earbuds.

Next, remove the left earbud only from the case. Make sure that you leave the right earbud in the case. Press the button on the left earbud six times. The LED will flash red and the earbud will power off. Place the left earbud back in the case.

Repeat this process with the right earbud, and then put it back into the case as well. When you pull them out again, they will pair to each other. After the LED on the left earbud begins flashing red and blue, you can turn the Bluetooth on your device back on.

How to Reset Skullcandy Sesh Evo

Even though the Sesh and Sesh Evo aren’t that different in design, they require different reset methods. First, make sure that you remove the Sesh Evo earbuds from your paired devices list. To reset your Sesh Evo earbuds, you’ll need to touch and hold both for six seconds. This allows the buds to power off.

Next, you’ll need to hold each bud for 10 seconds. This completes the power cycle. After doing this, put both earbuds back into the case.

The LEDs will be red. At this point, pull them out – they will turn on and pair to each other. When the left bud flashes red and blue, they are ready to be paired to your device.

Conclusion

Resetting your headphones can fix a host of problems, including pairing, volume, and sync issues. It’s simple enough to reset your headphones, and you won’t lose any settings. On the other hand, sometimes resetting isn’t enough. In this case, you might have to pursue other troubleshooting methods, update drivers, or contact Skullcandy if the headphones are still under the standard 1-year warranty.
